Homeopathy is "a therapeutic approach to the use of preparations of substances when supplied for health issues that coincide with the manifestation of the disorder in the individual patient". The rule was introduced about 200 years ago by Samuel Hahnemann (1755–1843). If a remedy causes the symptoms of a healthy volunteer, it can be used to treat this symptom in the patient. All diseases originate from "itching" (sora), gonorrhea (psychosis) or syphilis. Hahnemann was remarkably successful at first, and homeopathy conquered much of the world. With vision, this early popularity was probably gained because, like many other treatments of the time, homeopathy was not entirely harmless.
